5 years ago today---

i stayed home from school because the sunday before this tuesday, i had landed myself in the ER because of a dohnut+gall bladder.  I went to the doctor that morning as that was the first appointment available.  Sitting in the waiting room, a woman walked in completely pallid and she said that a plain had just crashed into the world trade center.  we all thought it was a terrible mistake and that something had been blown out of proportion.  after my appointment, mom and i went to the car and put the radio on.  once we knew she wasn't misinformed, we still thought that it was just a terrible accident.  a good number of hours later, and many tests later (American Radiology did some fun things to my stomach to find out what was wrong) we were home and we put the television on only to realize the extent of what had happened.  mom was watching the television when the first tower crashed and she told me to come quickly.  i missed that one, but saw the second one.  the most vivid thing i remember was that it was so horrific, i couldn't feel.  i felt absolutely numb-- couldn't cry or feel afraid-- it was so surreal.

where were you on September 11, 2001?
